Privacy Policy

Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how Salat Tracker handles your information. Our philosophy is simple: your spiritual journey is private. We aim to collect as little data as possible and keep it on your device.

• No accounts: No registration, no passwords, no profiles.
• On-device first: Your prayer logs and settings never leave your phone.
• Optional location: We only use your location to calculate accurate prayer times if you choose to enable it.

Information We Handle

1. Location Data

If you enable "Automatic Mode", the app requests foreground location (latitude and longitude) to calculate accurate prayer times for your current position. This data is used only for the calculation and is not stored permanently by us.

2. Prayer Tracking

When you mark a prayer as completed or update your Qada counter, this data is saved in your device's AsyncStorage. It is stored in a format like YYYY-MM-DD. We do not have access to this data.

3. Preferences

Settings like your preferred language, theme colors, and notification choices are stored locally to personalize your experience.

Third-Party Services

While we don't operate a custom backend, some features require external APIs:

• Aladhan Prayer Times API: To fetch schedules, your device sends coordinates to api.aladhan.com. They may see your IP address and network metadata as part of the standard HTTP request.
• Reverse Geocoding: To show your city name, the app may use your device's native OS services (Apple or Google).
• Expo Updates: To keep the app secure and up-to-date, it may check u.expo.dev for over-the-air updates.

Device Permissions

• Location: Used for prayer time calculations.
• Notifications: Used for prayer reminders and alarms.
• Exact Alarms (Android): Required for high-precision prayer alerts.

Data Retention & Security

Since your data is stored locally, it is retained until you delete the app or clear its storage in your device settings. We recommend using a screen lock to protect your device and the data within it.

Children's Privacy

Salat Tracker does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since we don't have accounts, we don't have a way to track the age of our users.
